Chris has arguably one of the best jobs on the planet for car lovers. He spends his days photographing and designing amazing cars with the man himself. To top it off he’s actually a remarkably nice chap – Kahnnews.com caught up with him last week to talk photography, cars and Kahn Design.

How long have you been working for the Kahn group?  Talk us through a typical day in the design office.

I have been here for almost 2 years now. A morning starts by checking emails and evaluating tasks that need to be done during the day.

However, no day is the same in this office!  The role is so varied, but timing can be a bit tricky.  Jobs commonly consist of design work for the latest projects, along with photo shoots of the latest cars and accessories we have produced.  

The press office at Kahn tell us they are deluged with admiration from gushing journalists who, to put it bluntly, seem to enjoy using your pictures for publication. How does it feel to receive such admiration?

It’s great to hear the feedback from established journalists.  It definitely puts a smile on my face and makes me feel appreciated.   It feels like quite the achievement. I’ve always had a drive to try and produce beautiful things, be it a photo, 3D design or a painting.  

What is so special about Kahn Design? Tell us about Afzal Kahn himself, what is it like working alongside him?

What makes A. Kahn design stand out, is our design philosophy; we only ever try to enhance what is already there, not add other products for the sake of it.  Our entire design team has previously gained experience in OEM design houses including Land Rover and Mini. We are mindful to respect the design that is already there and aim to tune the overall aesthetic in a direction which is attractive to our target market.

Afzal Kahn is a man who has limitless amounts of determination and passion. He is not afraid to show it. This company is his life and with his energy and leadership qualities the business is going at a hundred miles per hour. Do you have any tips for budding automotive photographers?  

I think that the most important thing is to have fun with it, and try and be creative. Don’t worry about shooting supercars – just get out there and shoot your mums car if you have to – it’s all good practice.
