And now the principal British designer has been featured in a new book entitled – A quest for perfection: the story of the greatest car in the world, detailing just why the man himself is investing in British industry.

Kahn is considered one of England’s most pioneering and successful entrepreneurs and his company is one of only a select few remaining global automotive brands in the UK and this is not the first book he has been featured in, the Asian Liver Bird also carries an interview with the man himself.

It’s also worth noting that Kahn has been offered between £5 and £10 million for one Bugatti, complete with the plate. Kahn is the founder of A Kahn Design Limited which ‘designs and builds new vehicles for the rich and famous’.

The Kahn group is delighted to announce Afzal Kahn will attend the Frankfurt International motor show.

Arriving on the 13^th of September, the principal British designer will be on hand to speak to media colleagues.

We ‘Kahn’ protect

The steal: So you think you’ve protected your car by not only alarming it but also making sure the branded alarm stickers are prominently on display for all to see.

Unfortunately, that is not the case, what you’ve actually done is inadvertently provide the thief with all the information they need to deactivate the system, giving them a number of valuable minutes to star the engine.

The thwart: You can evade this risk by investing in a Project Kahn alarm system which includes an innovative GPS tracking system. What is most striking here is that an alarm can be detected by simply rocking the bodywork, but a tracking system would be virtually impossible for the thief to confirm.

Watch out for the tow truck

The steal: Once they get hold of your car, thieves make their money by unbolting the most expensive components, and all they need to do this, is simply tow your car away and take it to a discreet area where they can take their tools to your car.

The thwart: Try to park in a secure area both in the day and at night, when out shopping or in town, park towards the front of buildings, so that your car is visible to all, and not parked somewhere towards the rear, where your bespoke vehicle could be easy pickings for thieves looking to make a quick buck at your expense.

Number plated sensation

The steal: This may sound peripheral, but let us assure you, this is a very serious matter, one that is essentially the theft of your vehicle’s identity.

Upon unscrewing the number plates from your car and passing the plates off as their own, your cherished registration is now ripe for use in criminal activity, (Speeding, incurring parking fines, flouting the congestion charge, filling up then driving away from petrol stations without paying, etc), all the associated costs, come back to you. However, in some cases, the switched plates are used for more serious crimes.

The thwart: Invest in a set of personalised and latest-industry theft-proof Project Kahn number plates. They are so unique, would be thieves would think twice about taking them, simply because of the technology associated with such number plates, and bearing in mind, vehicles with Project Kahn number plates are far from discreet.

Just say no!

The steal: A prospective buyer sweet talks you and tries to persuade you to take him up on his offer of buying a car with a striking banker’s draft.

The thwart: Do you know what an ‘acceptable’ banker’s draft looks like? Neither do we. So simply don’t accept this method of payment. If there is no choice for any reason, hold on to your car until the draft has cleared your bank.

Make your own

Not tremendously difficult if you drive a diesel. Many books and websites depict how to filter veg oil, add methanol and full up your tank. Officially, you should still pay fuel duty but you’ll still be saving a mere 20p a litre. 

Only drawback however, is you will have to get used to smelling like a chip shop.

Reverse into your drive

Reverse into your drive or your parking place at work. A cold engine uses much more fuel than when it’s hot, so minimise cold running. Combine a number of tasks into one trip, clear misty windows and open driveway gates before you start the engine and reverse into parking bays or driveways so that you can drive ‘your wheels’ straight out and warm the engine up as fast as possible.

Do without fresh air

You may not realise but keeping you air-conditioning on can swell petrol consumption by up to 25 per cent! So it’s best to keep cool by simply opening the air vents, sunroof or windows.

However, when driving at high speeds in your Project Kahn vehicle it may actually be more fuel efficient to keep your windows closed and cool down using the air-con system. This is because driving at speeds of over 60 mph with an open window dramatically increases drag and can affect petrol consumption more than using the air-conditioning.

Just tap in your postcode to bring up prices for around 8,000 stations across the UK and you could save a few pennies towards your next Project Kahn Range Rover.

Make money from your parking space 

Websites such as Parkatmyhouse.com and Parkonmydrive.net enable property-owners to rent out their empty driveways and garages to drivers needing somewhere to park. You normally pay a one-off registration fee to have your space advertised and then watch the cash roll in.

The money you make from parking could go towards the cost of filling up, or your next Kahn watch or cherished number plate.

Drive without lights at night
Apparently, taxi drivers in Cairo and some in Morocco believe driving without lights at night saves fuel. It almost certainly does not.

Keep the weight down - empty the boot! 
Get rid of any surplus weight from the car.100kg in the back can increase your fuel consumption by over 5mpg. So take out your golf clubs and other unnecessary bulk to save gas.

Keep your distance

Keep away from the car ahead of you to smooth out your driving. (Two seconds behind it will greatly reduce braking and stopping).

Get under pressure

Low tires will sap your fuel efficiency with shocking speed, so if you want to save money on gas you need to check your tire pressure at least a few times every month.

Pick the route with the least stops

Cars in general use a lot more fuel when starting and stopping so when possible, pick the route that has the least stops and starts. This will also help save your brakes. Remember that most stoplights are calibrated to maximize flow, so if you keep the speed legal you’ll save yet more money.

Prince William/The Queen?

The official limousines in which the queen travels famously have no number plates. However, she could give the number plate to Prince William as a wedding gift or to a fellow monarch.

Prince William and his fiancé have hinted that they may not accept gifts at all and instead ask for charity donations. However, the 4 HRH would make a nice gift for the soon to be princess, should Prince William want such an immaculate number plate for use on an official car.

History:

The regal-sounding number plate is one of the star attractions of Afzal Kahn’s prestigious registration numbers which includes the most expensive number plate in the UK: F1.

The tradition of registration numbers being adopted as status symbols by the famous and wealthy dates back to 1903, when number plates were introduced in Britain.

The first issued in London was A1, registered to the 2nd Earl Russell, who was so keen to acquire it that he camped out for the entire night before its release.

He sold it four years later, but should perhaps have hung on to it. A1 is now worth millions and is rumoured to be owned by the brother of the Sultan of Brunei.

Celebrity:

The sporting world has not lagged behind when it comes to vehicular one-upmanship, with Wayne Rooney buying the number plate WAZ 8 for his Aston Martin.

MAG 1C (Paul Daniels) and H41R DO (hairdresser Nicky Clarke) are more blatant advertisements for their owners and their talents.

As for David Beckham, he has already acquired DB 7, but perhaps Victoria will persuade him that 4 HRH is the only registration suitable for a couple who now lag behind Prince William and Kate Middleton as Britain’s second royal family.

Lord Sugar, the son of a Hackney tailor, probably best known for fronting the reality show ‘The Apprentice’ has a personal number plate entitled: AMS 1, which can be seen on his Rolls-Royce in the programme’s opening sequence.

Oil money?
