“Personalised number plates do more to personalise a vehicle than any other modification” states Afzal Kahn. And who else if not Afzal Kahn would know – owner of the Kahn Laboratories and one of the most sort after number plates in the UK, F1.

Kahn comments: “I always choose a unique plate for my cars, not only are they a great final touch they’re also a great investment”

Kahn Laboratories home to the famous automotive design studio A. Kahn Design, offers a wide range of personalised number plates with prices starting from as little as £1,000.

Kahn continues: “Over my years in the automotive industry I’ve seen many plates treated as family heirlooms and passed down through the generations, I guess that gives some indication of how much some of these plates are worth over time, both financially and sentimentally”.

Why not visit the specialist website by clicking here and view the complete range available, or alternatively why not let us know what your ideal number plate would be and A. Kahn Design will endeavour to find it for you or email your request to kahn@kahndesign.com with Number Plate Request in the subject field.

In January 2008, Afzal Kahn’s purchase of F 1 briefly focused the UK public’s attention on private vehicle registrations. £400,625 was a new record for the highest price paid for a British car registration.

A decade ago, private number plates were perceived as something owned and displayed by showbiz types. Beyond that, few people ever noticed or thought about them. Interest has spread, however, in recent years, and the increasing fashion for personalisation in all aspects of our lives has driven spectacular growth in the demand for private car numbers.

The range of terms used to refer to the product is wide. In the USA they are called vanity plates, while in the UK they are personal number plates, cherished registrations, personalised registrations and more. These days, those synonyms using the word “personal”, are becoming inadequate to describe the broad appeal of private registrations. In fact, the preferred Emirati term, distinguished number plates, is possibly one of the most appropriate descriptions, and so it is the one we will use henceforth.

There is a growing market for distinguished number plates in business. The applications are diverse, with some businesses using such numbers as branding and marketing tools on corporate vehicles. One well-known London plumbing company has purchased dozens of registrations whose characters seem to spell out plumbing and water related words. The media have noticed this, and the company has enjoyed considerable publicity as a result.

The purchase of F 1 raised the profiles of both Afzal Kahn personally and Project Kahn as a business. The quality of the registration, and the spectacular price paid for it, caught the attention of the media and the public. The fact that the proceeds of the sale were used to fund driver training, and thus to improve road safety, was another positive aspect to the story.

These days, a distinguished car registration is not simply the badge of a showbiz ego. An increasing number of very prominent business people appreciate the investment potential of a good number, and the branding and PR possibilities of an eye-catching plate.

Sir Alan Sugar’s AMS 1 registration has been clearly visible in the opening sequence of The Apprentice, and Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Theo Paphitis is known for his effective use of RYM 4N and LA53 NZA as branding tools for Ryman and La Senza, the two high street names with whom he is perhaps most famously associated.

It is, therefore, not surprising that many Project Kahn clients prefer to see distinguished registrations adorning their very personal bespoke vehicles, rather than meaningless groups of numbers and letters. A well chosen distinguished number plate can be the perfect finishing touch on a truly unique vehicle.

For further information on regtransfers visit: Link

To view Afzal Kahn’s celebrity profile at Reg Transfers.com visit: Link
