More than five million motorists are driving unsafe vehicles, new research by Britannia Rescue shows.

More than five million motorists are driving unsafe vehicles, new research by Britannia Rescue shows.

As many as 22% of these drivers have known about the dangerous fault on their vehicle for more than six months, the report claims. A total of 31% claimed they could not afford to fix the problem, while 11% said they had not had time to get their car repaired.

The most common faults are worn tyres, defective brakes and faulty exhaust pipes.

Around 5% of the vehicles in need of repair have broken or missing wing mirrors, while about the same number have broken head or tail lights.

Britannia Rescue general manager Simon Stevens said: “It’s concerning that so many motorists currently drive dangerous vehicles in need of repair. Some repairs may appear to be minor but they could still turn a car into a death-trap that endangers the driver, passengers and other motorists.

Stevens went on to say, “It can be tempting to put off repairs but doing this could lead to you being fined and, far worse, put you and your family in danger.”

Kahn Design’s range of extraordinary wheel packages could certainly improve motorists quality of driving, regarded as the ‘best in the industry’, not only do the wheels look out of this world; they go through rigorous health and safety procedures. Why not check out the latest designs by visiting the wheels section on our website.

If money was no object what would be your dream car? For euro millions lottery winner Nigel Page that dream is about to come true. Page says he’ll spend part of his £56 million winnings on a new 4×4, possibly a Range Rover or a BMW X6, Kahn Design’s showroom could certainly help Page’s wish list come true.

According to latest research by the Camelot Group a new BMW is the second most popular purchase for lottery winners, with a Range Rover coming in at number six. The most popular brand that millionaires head for is Mercedes-Benz with the C-Class topping the choice table for lottery winners.

Mercedes Benz

BMW

Mini

Vauxhall

Land Rover

Range Rover

Ford

Porsche

Audi

Jaguar

A new car is one of the first things that a lottery millionaire buys, with 36% of jackpot winners heading to a car showroom before buying a new house or even splashing some cash on the high street.

Few stop at just one set of wheels though, as the average numbers of cars bought by lottery winners is over six. Take Tom Naylor as an example, the lorry driver from the West Midlands, at the time of his win he won £15,528,286 on Lotto Extra in 2001. He said he wanted a car for every day of the week and that’s just what he did. He bought a Rolls-Royce Phantom, three Jaguars – an XJ, XK and XJ220 – an Aston Martin DB9, a Land Rover Discovery and a Hummer.

In fact, 13% of jackpot winners have bought at least 10 cars since their win, while the average number of cars bought per winning household is 5.17.

Some winners are clearly on the Kahn Designs train of thought and enjoy living in the fast lane choosing from a shopping list of supercars comprising of the likes of Aston Martin, Bentley, De Lorian, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Rolls Royce.

At Kahn Design we’re currently busy working on the our new online shop, which once ready will allow you to compile your own ‘wish list’, meaning when that day comes and you scoop the jackpot you too can be the proud owner ‘5.17’cars….

There is a maxim in business that a thing is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it. By that reckoning, Afzal Kahn is onto a winner.

There is a maxim in business that a thing is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it. By that reckoning, Afzal Kahn is onto a winner.
He is the owner of the registration number F1. He bought it in January last year and has already turned down an offer of £5m. But, with the number plate on display at the MPH show in London- complete with the car it is attached to, his white Bugatti Veyron – there is now a chance he might relinquish it. “Everything has a price,” he says. “I would let it go for £10m (including the Veyron).”
It may seem a little steep, but then Kahn is hardly desperate for cash. The 38-year-old from Bradford is a self-made millionaire after setting up a car tuning and customisation company, Kahn Design, 11 years ago. It has franchises around the world, and dealerships as far-flung as China and Russia, but the heart of the business is the Kahn Laboratory- a purpose- built workspace and showroom in Bradford.
To buy the plate took Kahn eight years of negotiations with Essex country council, which had owned it since 1904. It cost him £375,000 plus Vat. “I don’t really follow Formula One,” he admits. “I bought the plate for an investment.”
Although the businessman personally owns a Rolls-Royce Phantom as well as the Veyron and other cars, the plate is his most memorable acquisition. “Buying the number plate was actually more exciting than buying the Bugatti,” Kahn admits. “As amazing a machine as the Veyron is, it is not exclusive. By that I mean there is more than one in existence. The F1 plate is truly one of a kind. If there was a fire and I had to choose between F1 and the Veyron, I’d grab the F1 certificate.”
If anyone were prepared to pay £10m for the plate, what would Kahn spend the money on? ” “I want to set up a low-volume luxury British car company,” he says. “I have already started designing something quintessentially British and, like Kahn Design, I want to support and use as much British industry and engineering as possible. That is my dream, and it will happen. In the next three years.”

Asian Enterprise and Eastern Eye Journalist Aditi Khanna paid a visit to Project Kahn HQ and met the world’s most avant – garde designer.

There are few entrepreneurs who can boast of being the designer of choice for Hollywood actors and Premiership footballers.

The reason is hardly a mystery as Afzal Kahn is among the top five designers of bespoke vehicles in the world.

He excels in taking on world class car brands like Aston Martin, Bentley, and Range Rover, stripping them to the core to create a whole new Project Kahn car. His strength lies in unique wheel designs and state of the art accessories created by his automotive design company in Bradford.

“I love the cars right from the age of 10. As a kid I couldn’t help looking at car dealerships and knowing deep down that I could, in some way, totally re-invent it. That is what we do here with a team of 60 talented staff,” says the 37 –year old design and property tycoon.

A classic example of his genius is in the James Bond car, DB9s, that sells for £120,000 or the swanky McLaren SLR that he cruises in.

His company sells an average of 250 bespoke vehicles a year but Kahn is not one to rest on his laurels. He has developed a parallel property business under Kahn landmark and had a buying power of over £75 million with properties worldwide. He has also stepped into the world of watch design and is on the lookout for a talented fashion designer who can help launch the Project Kahn fashion label.

In January 2007 Afzal made the headlines by snapping up the cherished reg F1 – the most expensive in the UK for a cool £440,625.

F1 now adorns the ground breaking Kahn Cosworth Sport 300. “I wouldn’t call myself a car fanatic but more of a designer. This is taking the luxury 4×4 market to the next stage. The UK has been out of the limelight from the world’s motoring industry for too long, we are aiming to put it back on the map with this innovative new creation. Our select consumers will be delighted to own distinctively styled cars with Cosworth tuned engines.”

The son of an ice-cream man, Kahn recalls the days when he had to go to school in Wellington boots because his family could not afford proper school shoes. But it was his sheer passion and hard work that prevailed.

At the age of 14 he took up his first job selling eggs door to door – far removed from his design ambitions. “Ok, it wasn’t the perfect start but it was while I was walking around selling eggs that I began to aspire to somehow becoming involved in the car industry. I worked for free in the plastic moulding factory in order to get some experience in the manufacturing industry. The hours were long and tiring, but I gained the knowledge I needed and it held me in good stead. That part of my working life is vital. My parents taught me the value of hard work,” he recalls.

"I was the first manufacturer to design a wheel with a spoke that ran to the very edge of the rim. It’s strange that now this particular style has become one of the most replicated in the world. It’s just good to see that all those hours of hard work finally paid off.”

Before long, Kahn had expanded his business from wheels to designing car accessories, exhausts and body kits; In 2001 he set up V12 power Ltd, now one of the most prestigious bespoke vehicle specialists in the UK. But keen to move away from dealing with standard manufactured vehicles, Kahn decided to go one step further and bring his own touch to bespoke vehicles and Project Kahn was born.

Now the most successful automotive design house in the UK, Kahn is adamant that his company ethos remains unchanged.

“The company’s ethos is all about British styling. We make tailored vehicle solutions for bespoke clients who want to break free from the conformities of standard manufacturers. I’ve no interest in bling – other people can do that if they wish. For me, it’s all about meeting people who are creative and talented, coming up with fresh ideas and developing concepts that can take my company forward.

“Don’t listen to anybody who says that you can’t achieve your dreams and be prepared for a hard slog – be prepared to work at a hundred miles per hour,” he stresses.

This is exactly the mantra he has lived by and his list of achievements speak for themselves. As for the future, it’s simple: “I am No. 1 designer in the world and I will remain at the top.” Afzal Kahn was featured on the front page of Asian Enterprise magazine. Click on the link below to contact Kahn Design:

The Londoner explains how he became a fan and why he believes Afzal Kahn is a truly great designer.

What do you do for a living?

I work for Siemens IT Solutions as an IT Analyst Engineer. I am based at one of our client’s site: the Warner Bros Entertainment Corporate office in Holborn, London. My Team looks after a portion of the IT infrastructure and provides support for technology related issues.

What do you think of the new Cosworth 300 Sport?

The Cosworth 300 Sport looks amazing. The interior is spot on and definitely better than the factory version. The dials on the centre console adds a touch of class to the interior. Great attention to detail with the interior and nothing was spared.

This new project is an Amazing break through for project Khan. If Cosworth 300 Sport gets the public acceptance we all anticipate and then becomes a desirable automobile like ford sierra cosworth or Mercedes 190E cosworth, the sky is the limit for Project Khan.

Why is Project Kahn renowned worldwide?

Designs by project Khan are very tasteful with great attention to detail that everyone can relate to it. Project Khan design automobiles that look extremely desirable without looking over the top. Many of the designs are collector’s items and cannot be replicated because great effort and a lot of thought process was taken into account during the design. Project Khan seems to read one’s mind. Project Khan Design appears to correct the cosmetic flaws of the original model and they will not cut any corners.

I was in my late 20’s when I got to know of project khan and now I am in my late 30s now. I know project khan has got a huge fan base in the schools and universities especially in the midlands area. As young people we all dream of owning a project khan automobile. Perhaps, project khan cars seem to say ‘you will own me one day if you work hard’. That is an inspiring thought. I still feel confident I will own one someday. My choice will be a Black stage 3 project Khan Range Rover Sports with those great rims.

Project Kahn is a worldwide institution with proud British heritage.

Project Kahn’s fan base is not only diverse, it is multicultural: I have seen middle aged men, footballers and business women drive happily in their Project Kahn cars. The only colour that matter’s at Project Kahn is the colour of the car.

What do you think of Afzal Kahn as a designer?

Afzal Kahn is very inspiring. He has great pride in his work and has achieved a great deal. It is always good to learn from the great man’s experience. I know that the key to success is belief, hardwork and a bit of luck.

I was truly inspired when in an interview with projectkahn.com he said he gave a so called friend about £200 to get him some spoilers for his escort. And although the guy disappeared – he insists that was the best thing that person could have done to him as he immediately decided to make his own body spoiler and the rest, as they say, is history.

In another interview he explains how highly he values his team. Afzal Kahn has very good taste and great sense of style. Whatever he conceives in his thoughts, he puts into reality without cutting corners. This can be seen with the automobile, real estate and Time Piece subsidiaries of A Kahn design. He definitely has the dream Job and he is the man to put the British motor industry on the map!

How does it feel to be a super fan and Project Kahn Ambassador?

To be a super fan and a project Kahn Ambassador is such a profound honour. I am very appreciative of this and cannot take this opportunity for granted. It is great that project khan have created a user forum to communicate with their large fan base. However many fans may not be aware of this forum.

As a car enthusiast from a young age, I used to spend my entire wage modifying my car. Subtle modifications would include wheels & tyres, suspension exhaust and stereo system. In the late 90s and early 2000, I used to get tips from various car performance magazines.

However, when I came across project khan I was just blown away. It was obvious to me that project khan had no limit in what it could achieve and I became passionate about their automobile design and entire ethos.

The Project Kahn website is just exhilarating and has some great designs especially the Range Rover sports. A true collector’s item

Project Kahn is without a doubt the biggest automotive brand in the country. If you don’t believe me – ask the young people of today and don’t forget to ask certain competitors who are green with envy and have tried in the past to ‘sling mud’ at Afzal Kahn and the brand. However, Project Kahn do not resort to petty name calling as they are a true British Brand revered by people all around the world – from China to America. Project Kahn they let their designs do the talking. Click on the link below to contact Kahn Design:

However, Rudi Ali Johnson, running back for the Cincinnati Bengals likes to coast in his 2006 Range Rover Sport supercharged by Kahn Design, North America (Moonachie, New Jersey) that was specially brought over to the U.S. from the U.K and assembled from the bottom up.

"I wanted it to be exclusive," he admitted. "I saw it in a magazine and tried to look for it here, but no one knew what I was talking about, so I called Snowy Kahn at Project Kahn who referred me to Kahn Design North America and we had it shipped over from Bradford in the UK and assembled here."

Being his favorite car, Rudi made sure that the SUV came out exactly how he wanted. The interior consists of the Project Kahn piano black interior wood package and the Project Kahn leather interior package: perforated leather seat panels; contrasting stitching on doors, seats and center console; perforated leather steering wheel; and custom leather-covered rear subwoofer enclosure with contrasting stitching.

One of the NFL's better running backs, Rudi listens to his favorite tunes through an iPod link and cradle, and his passengers never get bored, playing with a PlayStation 2 that was integrated into a rear seat entertainment system.
When he steps out on the field, the fans chant "Rudi, Rudi, Rudi" as if it's a chorus to a song everybody knows.

He moves to the beat of three JL Audio 12w3v2 subwoofers, two Focal K2 6.5-inch, 200-Watt speaker components and Audison LRx 1.400, LRx 2.150 and LRx 2.500 amplifiers.

Start talking to Daryl Hannah about environmentally friendly motoring and you’re in for a lengthy discussion. The 46-year-old actress, best remembered as a mermaid in Splash and as an assassin in the Kill Bill trilogy, took part in the Gumball 3000 rally, alongside Quentin Tarantino and packed nearly 350 litres of biodiesel into the rear of her pink Project Kahn Range Rover.

Hannah is adamant biodiesel is a feasible alternative to conventional fuels. It can be blended with normal diesel fuel or used pure, though the latter requires slight engine modification.

“The great thing about running 100% vegetable oil is that the small amount of carbon gases coming out of your exhaust is the same amount the plants that made your fuel took out of the atmosphere when they were growing in the first place,” says the Hollywood actress.

“So it’s a carbon-neutral pollutant – you are not damaging the environment in any way with a convoluted logic. It has a toxicity level somewhere between table salt and maple syrup, so you can carry it around, as we have been doing. It’s not flammable – if you drop a match in it, it will just go out.”

So what does her friend Quentin Tarantino make of her convictions? “He’s such a typical teenage boy; he’s always saying to me, ‘What are you doing using vegetable oil, Daryl? Come on!’
